Terms of Service

These terms apply when you use Final Year at finalyear.ng (“Final Year”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Final Year. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

1. What Final Year does

Final Year helps students plan and draft final year projects: finding a topic, setting out chapters, drafting chapters with AI, working with an assistant, checking references against published records, and downloading the project as a Word document. It is a writing aid. It does not carry out your research, collect your data or run your experiments.

2. Your account

  • You can sign up with an email address and password, or with Google. Give accurate details and keep your password to yourself.
  • An account is for one person. You are responsible for what is done with it.
  • Final Year is meant for students of universities, polytechnics and colleges. If you are under 18, use it only with the permission of a parent or guardian.

3. Your work belongs to you

Your topics, chapters, notes, uploaded files and the drafts made for you are yours. You allow us to store, process and display them only so that we can provide the service to you, including sending the text needed to the AI and reference services described in the Privacy Policy. We do not publish your work or use it to train AI models.

4. Using AI drafts responsibly

  • AI drafts are a starting point. Read, check and rewrite them. You are responsible for everything you submit, including facts, figures, quotations and citations.
  • Final Year checks citations against published records and marks claims that still need a source, but it cannot guarantee that every statement or reference is correct or suitable for your work.
  • Follow your institution’s and your supervisor’s rules on the use of AI tools. Some do not allow them, or require you to say how you used them. It is your responsibility to know and follow those rules.
  • We do not promise any grade, approval or outcome for your project.

5. Words and payments

  • AI actions such as drafting a chapter or asking the assistant use words from your balance, counted on what is written for you. Each action has a most it can use, and words held for an action but not used go back to your balance.
  • Words are bought with Paystack. Your card or bank details go to Paystack and never reach us.
  • Words you buy can be used for 365 days from the purchase. Unused words expire after that.
  • Words are not money. They cannot be exchanged for cash, transferred to another account or sold.
  • If you were charged and your words did not arrive, or you were charged twice, email support@finalyear.ng with your payment reference and we will put it right. Words that have been used are not refunded, except where the law requires it.

6. Fair use

Do not use Final Year to:

  • break the law, or infringe anyone else’s rights, including copyright;
  • upload other people’s personal information without the right to do so;
  • interfere with the service, get around its limits, or access accounts or data that are not yours;
  • copy, scrape or resell the service or its content, or use it to build a competing product.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules.

7. The service

We work to keep Final Year available and accurate, but it is provided as it is, and we may change, add or remove features. Keep your own copy of work that matters to you: you can download your project at any time.

8. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost marks, time or opportunities, arising from your use of Final Year. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Nigerian consumer protection law that cannot be limited.

9. Ending your use

You can stop using Final Year at any time, delete your projects, and ask us to delete your account by emailing support@finalyear.ng.

10. Changes and law

We may update these terms. When we make a significant change we will say so on the site before it takes effect. These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
